The Prudent Funeral Plan Prudent Consulting Group established 1991 as a Liberty Life Franchise. Larry Brookstone took over managing of Discovery Advisory Services in August 2002. Due to marketing limitations the company became an independent brokerage in March 2003 and changed the name to Prudent Advisory Services. Apart from marketing products for Discovery, Sanlam, Old Mutual & Altrisk, Prudent developed it’s own Funeral Plan policy. The product was developed to meet a gap in the market and is administered by NHB and underwritten by Prosperity Insurance Company Limited. NHB Administrators (established 1980’s started running 1999). Chosen by Prudent to be the administrator of the Prudent Funeral Plan and assisted in the design of the product. NHB are administrators of products for insurers such as Constantia Life and Health Assurance Co Ltd, Prosperity Insurance Co Ltd, Momentum Insurance Co Ltd and Assupol Life. Prosperity Insurance Company Limited (PIC) founded in 1951 was the first black-owned insurance co. to be licensed in SA by the FSB. PIC is re-insured by Assupol Life and Assupol Life owns 50% of PIC. The Prudent Funeral Plan offers the best funeral cover at very affordable premiums.
Plan Funeral Cover for the whole family, husband, wife and children. No underwriting, 6 month waiting period. Two year waiting period for suicide. Maximum entry Age for Principal Life and Spouse 65 years. No waiting period for accidental death or unnatural death, eg. murder. Immediate Family Cover Plan B cannot be offered as a standalone plan, it can only be taken as a top-up together with plan A.
Extended Family Option You can add up to 8 members of your extended family. i.e. Parents, Parents in law, grand parents, uncles, aunts, additional spouses, children over 21, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. No maximum entry age. No Underwriting. 9 month waiting period. Extended Family Cover
Additional Benefits Repatriation Services Martins Funerals will arrange for collection and transportation of the mortal remains of your loved one from your home, government mortuary or hospital to the funeral parlour closest to the place of burial. This benefits is included free of charge for all lives covered under your Prudent Funeral Plan including extended family members. No waiting period. This is a preventative programme designed to provide professional help necessary for someone who has accidentally been exposed to HIV through rape, assault, needle stick injury, motor vehicle accidents and other potential exposures. This benefit is included for immediate family members and provides access to confidential testing, anti-retroviral treatment within the 72 hour window and counselling. No waiting period.
